Since Kooka was installed by Mandriva, I probably didn't need to install Xsane (done per Brother instructions). When I installed the Brother Scanner driver, the MFC was auto detected and I got a working scanner. Manually selecting the MFC-210c didn't result in a working scanner.

Before installing the scanner driver I tried using the Mandriva Control Center to install the scanner resulted in Sane and Kooka being installed. It works fine for printing, haven't explored scanning or faxing yet

Brother Drivers Finally used the Brother CUPS drivers (lpr and then wrapper rpms) for an MFC-210c on Mandriva 2007. One handy aspect is that there is a KLibido package in PLF (Mandriva) and all directory locations are customizable (not for/in BNR2). While my first impression is that I like it, I won't be using it because I cannot throttle the download speed. You cannot set a download speed limit and the program tab is static (BNR2 tab shows speed/time left). My growing suspicion is that some sellers try to extract the full amount of the reservation price of the winning bidder by ghost-bidding - by creating a second account and use that second account to raise the price.
How is this possible? Did the winning bidder decline to pay for the item within seconds of the close of the auction? On a couple of occasions, I even receive a "second-chance" offer within literally seconds of the close of an auction from the seller. But many, far too many, of these lenses become re-listed very soon. My bid, based on my reservation price, is the winning bid until the last minute but gets trumped by a bid that's like a dollar higher than my maximum bid, leaving me in dust. Below is a weird pattern that I've experienced on eBay often enough to call it a pattern:

I've been bidding for manual focus lenses on eBay for sometime, winning some but losing most.
